Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Honourable Kazembe Kazembe noted that it is without doubt that the people of Zimbabwe want a peaceful, secure and safe environment to go about their various socio-economic activities with minimal, if any security induced disruptions.
The Minister said this while making an address at the 2023 annual ministry strategic performance plan workshop at Clevers Lakeview Resort in Masvingo on the 8th of November 2022.
Honourable Kazembe Kazembe went on to say that peace and security is a key enabler to the attainment of a prosperous economy, our fellow Zimbabweans also expect us to deliver efficient and convenient services that improve their quality of life.
“The Ministry has programmes and projects that are not only targeted at realising this but also reducing poverty among our people.
It is that time of the year once again, where we gather to take stock of our performance in the current planning period as we also focus on the ensuing period in our quest to deliver on our mandate under the National Development Strategy 1.” he said
He also encouraged all Heads of Departments and Agencies, that in their capacity as the Ministry’s technocrats, they should use the time and resources provided, productively.
“We must adopt a culture of achieving results against all odds and become a results oriented Ministry.” he added
“We were having a discussion earlier on and I said, as much as we know that a lot is happening in the country and we are a country which is under sanctions so it means that the demand is high for the resources that we need.” said Kazembe Kazembe
He concluded by referencing the need for teamwork by all within the Ministry, departments and Agencies in the delivery of the mandate of peace and security as a key enabler for economic growth and prosperity.
During the workshop, participants were exposed to the basic functions of the Executive Electronic Dashboard (EED). One of the critical functions of the EED is to enable His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, at the click of a button to view progress or lack of it in the implementation of the various Government Projects, as set out in the National Development Strategy 1 and under the 100 Day Project Cycles.
